Vibration Analysis of Non-Uniform Beams Resting on Elastic Foundations Using the Spline Collocation Method

چکیده
The natural frequencies of non-uniform beams resting on elastic foundations are numerically obtained using the spline collocation procedure. The spline collocation method is a numerical approach effective at solving partial differential equations. The boundary conditions that accompanied the spline collocation procedure were used to convert the partial differential equations of non-uniform beam vibration problems into a discrete eigenvalue problem. The beam model considers the taper ratios , , the boundary conditions, and the elastic foundation stiffness, kf, all of which impact the dynamic behavior of non-uniform beams resting on elastic foundations. This work developed the continuum mechanics and combined with the spline collocation method to simulate the dynamic properties of non-uniform beams resting on elastic foundations.

Stability and vibration analyses of tapered columns resting on one or two-parameter elastic foundations
This paper presents a generalized numerical method to evaluate element stiffness matrices needed for the free vibration and stability analyses of non-prismatic columns resting on one- or two-parameter elastic foundations and subjected to variable axial load. For this purpose, power series approximation is used to solve the fourth–order differential equation of non-prismatic columns with v...
متن کاملOptimization of Functionally Graded Beams Resting on Elastic Foundations
In this study, two goals are followed. First, by means of the Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) method, parametric analysis on the vibration characteristics of three-parameter Functionally Graded (FG) beams on variable elastic foundations is studied. These parameters include (a) three parameters of power-law distribution, (b) variable Winkler foundation modulus, (c) two-parameter elasti...
متن کاملAn Analytical Shear Factor for FGM Circular Plates with Non-uniform Elastic Foundations and Normal and Shear Tractions
The available shear correction factors have mainly been developed for homogeneous isotropic plates and/or assuming that no shear tractions are imposed on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate. In the present research, a more general case of a circular functionally graded plate subjected to non-uniform normal and shear tractions at the top and bottom surfaces is considered. These non-uniform ...
متن کاملSemi-analytical Approach for Free Vibration Analysis of Variable Cross-Section Beams Resting on Elastic Foundation and under Axial Force
in this paper, free vibration of an Euler-Bernoulli beam with variable cross-section resting on elastic foundation and under axial tensile force is considered. Beam’s constant height and exponentially varying width yields variable cross-section. The problem is handled for three different boundary conditions: clamped-clamped, simply supported-simply supported and clamp-free beams. First, the equ...
متن کاملVibration Analysis of Pre-twisted Beams Using the Spline Collocation Method
The variation in the accuracy of the calculated natural frequencies of pre-twisted beams solved with spline collocation method is investigated in this study. The spline collocation method is used to formulate the eigenvalue problems of pre-twisted beams. Three types of boundary conditions are considered. Numerical results indicate that the accuracy of the calculated natural frequencies is signi...
